The studio will be moving some 500 kilometers from the southwest of Germany to Westfalia. We are still in the state of planning and preparing. For the time being it is all collecting ideas and keeping the senses open for inspiration.
Once all has moved and settled in work proper will resume.
I’ll be trying to report from our activities as things evolve on my blog.

Buchdruckatelier bleikloetzle

bleikloetzle Original-Handpressendrucke

10 years Buchdruckatelier bleikloetzle

5 years at Waeschenbeuren

140 squaremeters dedicated to book arts

In early 2004 we moved in and there were naked walls waiting for paint, there were lamps on the ceiling and - a mess. Some 6 weeks later the whole thing seemed to have a chance to develop into a book arts studio some time.

The Big Move

This is what it looks like today: half of the total of 140 sqm is used for hand composing and printing and for storing all the type. Susanne Gueth took a couple of fotos that give a good impression of the place.

One cylinder proofingpress (KORREX, size 50x70 cm) and a couple of platen presses are waiting for their jobs to come up.
The metal type is stored well and there is room for the printing blocks be they wood or lino.

During Open Studio Events hand composing, printing and book binding may be on show like during Summer in the Studio 2007 and Summer in the Studio 2008.

During events walls can be decorated by hanging prints and tables and working surfaces give room to show books and objects.

And the scenery outside is quite nice either.
