Selfie with photobook: WorldPhotoBookDay 14 October

52 Weeks

This book is a colaboration between Australian artist Marianne Midelburg and German artist Annette C. Disslin. For the period of one year each of the two took one photo per week and wrote a short comment accompanying the image. This procedure resulted in 52 pairs of images plus notes of the places where the two women live, their every day surroundings and chores.

“52 Weeks” is an artist’s book that comes in four volumes. It is a limited edition of 6 numbered copies, signed by both artists. Each book comes with 114 traditional colour photoprints, 56 images by each of the artists plus a portrait of both of them.

Annette, being the book artist, did the composing of the text (in Baskerville), the printing on a handmoved proofing press, and the binding. All accompanying notes have been written by the respective artist herself. Annette wrote in German, Marianne in English. Enclosed in a bag in Volume 4 is a handout with an English translation of Annette’s notes.

Published in 2014 - presented at Leipzig Bookfair March 2014

Copy No 1 is the special edition that comes with two additional large size photographs (18x28cms) to be framed.
